Anne C. Stromberg

Employment Law, Litigation, Neutral Investigations Attorney

Anne Stromberg has 25 years of experience representing employers, managers and supervisors in employment law matters. Her practice combines preventive counseling with litigation defense.

Anne is an experienced litigator, having defended cases involving the full spectrum of employment-related claims including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, trade secrets and unfair competition, wrongful discharge, wage and hour individual and class actions, and Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). She defends clients in both state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal administrative agencies. She has also successfully argued cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and California appellate courts.

Many employment-related lawsuits can be avoided with appropriate preventative practices. Workplace conflict is a fact of life, and mishandling an employee conflict can result in decreased morale and productivity, to say nothing of bad press, protracted litigation, and loss of profits. Anne can help prevent employer / employee conflicts by providing:

  • Review and assessment of human resources practices and procedures
  • Development of employment contracts, policies & handbooks
  • Timely and regular consultations to problem-solve and address issues early
  • In-house training: harassment prevention, hiring/firing, disability accommodation, wage & hour compliance
  • Preparation for governmental investigations & audits
  • Neutral investigations (for non-client employers) when employee complaints are made

In her work as a neutral investigator, Anne has investigated issues of workplace misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Her years as a practicing employment lawyer inform her investigations. Her non-adversarial approach—respectful and sensitive—puts witnesses at ease, allowing for full exposition of the issues to guide employer decisions. Anne is a member of the national Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), a rapidly growing association of professionals dedicated to promoting the quality of impartial workplace investigations.

Anne has been selected by the Super Lawyers rating service as an outstanding lawyer who has achieved a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Anne received a B.A. with High Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and received her J.D. in 1990 from Santa Clara University, where she was an editor of the Santa Clara University Law Review.

Outside of the office, Anne is an avid sports fan and enjoys hiking and kayaking and watching her sons play basketball and ice hockey. Her favorite place to be is Hanalei beach in Kauai.
